Several United supporters had probably hoped David De Gea would return to Old Trafford. Two seasons with Andre Onana were enough, this summer the Spanish legend was able to walk out as a free agent after big games in Serie A for Fiorentina. It wasn’t Old Trafford. De Gea signed an extension with Fiorentina, doubled his salary and will lead the defence further. Now it is reported that a Norwegian centre-back is on the wish list.

It was a tough experience for Leo Østigård not to be the first choice when Norway drove over Italy at Ullevaal, but that’s football. It is not only in the national team that the centre-back has had to stand behind in the playing time queue, at Rennes the Norwegian has been sent to the exit door after a loan to Hoffenheim. Two clubs are quick to sign the 25-year-old.

L’Equipé reports that the Rennes management has decided to sell Østigård. Hoffenheim had a purchase option in the lease, but has not chosen to exercise this. According to the French newspaper, Fiorentina and Pisa are in the process of signing the former Napoli player.

Fiorentina, with the legend David de Gea in goal, have this season secured the club 6th place in the Serie A and Conference League ticket. Østigård showed in the Napoli shirt that he thrives in the Italian league, sounds like Fiorentina could be an interesting next destination. Having De Gea behind him on the line could be worth the journey.
