We know that the Portuguese man has a temper that sometimes goes beyond innocent water bottles or furniture in the wardrobe.

Galatasaray won the away game 2-1 thanks to a first-half brace from on-loan striker Victor Osimhen. Sebastian Szymanski scored for Fenerbahçe before half-time, but the home side were unable to equalise.

After the final whistle, the situation escalated further when Mourinho came into physical conflict with the opponent’s coach. The Portuguese coach grabbed Buruk’s face, who rather theatrically fell to the ground. Security guards had to intervene to separate the two, and Mourinho was asked to leave the area.

Already heated mood

Tensions had already reached boiling point in the 88th minute, when a quarrel between several players developed into a chaotic showdown.

Referee Cihan Aydın ended up showing red to Galatasaray substitutes Kerim Demirbay and Barış Yılmaz, as well as Fenerbahçe’s Mert Yandaş. Both teams also received five yellow cards each – including one for Buruk early in the second half.

Previous conflicts

The turmoil may not have come as a surprise, given the history between the teams. In February, Mourinho was banned for four matches (later reduced to two) after the Turkish Football Association found that he had made “derogatory and offensive statements” against the referee and accused Turkish football of “chaos and disorder”.

He later avoided a second ban after a controversial comment in a Sky Sports interview, in which he claimed that the head of the disciplinary committee had “celebrated with a Galatasaray shirt” after the ban.

The Turkish federation rejected the accusation, stressing that they had always “acted neutrally”.

The cup is one thing, but it looks like Galatsaray will take home the league gold as well. – It is not acceptable for Jose Mourinho who demands that Fenerbahçe invest to strengthen the attacking line.

José Mourinho has started planning Fenerbahçe’s future, and one of his main requests for next season has a name: Aleksandar Mitrović. Mourinho believes the Serbian striker is the ideal replacement for Edin Džeko, who could leave the club at the end of the season.

Mitrović – a priority for Mourinho

The 30-year-old Mitrović is currently impressing at Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, where he has become one of the team’s most important attacking players. But according to Turkish Fanatik, the player is considering a return to European football, not least to be in top shape before the 2026 World Cup. This could make it easier for Fenerbahçe to secure him as their new attacking leader.

The biggest challenge is Mitrović’s salary in Saudi Arabia, which is difficult for Fenerbahçe to match. Still, Mourinho’s influence and the opportunity to compete at a high level in Europe could be crucial in persuading the player.

Fenerbahçe’s interest is not new

The club’s interest in Mitrović is not new, but with Mourinho at the helm, the operation takes on more weight. The Portuguese coach wants to build an ambitious project, and a striker like Mitrović will be an important step on the way.
