Newcastle have no plans to sell the Swedish goal machine Alexander Isak, but if they are to consider a sale at all, the deal must be so good that it will be impossible to say no. – Liverpool, who have previously had a kind of limit on spending, throw away all restrictions and make an offer that will end up in the impossible to say no to category.

The bosses at Anfield have previously had a limit of around 100 million euros, that limit no longer applies. Liverpool have approached Newcastle with a bid for Alexander Isak of €138 million. Which is above the market value set by Transfermarkt and well over the €70 million it cost to bring the 25-year-old to St James’ Park.

At the same time as all this, Newcastle are working on a transfer for French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, Sky Sports reports that Liverpool, who have been told several times that it is not relevant with Isak, also have Etitike on their lists.

“The loss of Isak would be huge and impossible to overestimate,” says The Athletic’s Newcastle correspondent Chris Waugh.

Isak has impressed with 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle since joining from Real Sociedad. Last season was his most prolific in England with 27 goals in 42 games.

Liverpool have already set a new transfer record this summer with the signing of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £100 million plus bonuses.
