Douglas Luiz left the Premier League as a star, the Brazilian with 204 appearances in the Villa shirt was part of Aston Villa’s climb towards the top of the Premier League table. In the summer of 2024, Juventus forked out €50 million for the central midfielder (two Juve players were sent the other way as part of the deal), but after 27 appearances in the zebra shirt, Juve have realised Luiz is made for the Premier League arena, not as part of the Juventus game.

Manchester United were linked with Luiz for a period this summer, when it became known Juve and the Brazilian had had enough of each other, but it is a Greek who has been actively pushing to bring the 27-year-old back to the ball island.

According to Tuttosport, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has negotiated a transfer fee of around €29 million for Luiz. This sends the midfielder “home” to the Premier League, desperate to play his way back into the Brazilian national team before the World Cup next summer.

We look forward to seeing Luiz back in the world’s toughest league, for Forest a really strong signing.
