Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournaments in Shanghai and Beijing. This is a blow to the Serb’s fans in Shanghai, as it is the first time since 2019 that the event is being played again and fans were hoping to see Djokovic.

Next week, Novak Djokovic was supposed to fly to China and play in two tournaments – in Shanghai and Beijing. However, a few days ago, the Serb announced that he would not appear in China. Moreover, the Serb did not give a reason for withdrawing. Could this be related to the fact that in last weekend’s Davis Cup, the Serb suffered his first defeat in 30 days?

Novak Djokovic was probably not happy with losing in doubles at Davis Cup, but considering that Serbia advanced to the finals of the event anyway, this is probably not what made Djokovic withdraw from the Chinese tournaments. We’re guessing that the reason may lie in the need for rest. The Serb had recently won US Open and did not have time to regenerate his body, because two days later he had to be at Serbia’s training camp before the start of Davis Cup.

The Serb’s absence in China is certainly an unpleasant surprise for his Chinese fans. Especially those in Shanghai, where the tournament was resumed after a three-year break, and the Serb is a multiple winner of this tournament.
