Paul Scholes has a strong voice when it comes to Man Utd. When Ratcliffe, as a new United boss, was asked what type of player he was missing in the United squad, the answer was: “Scholes”. However, it seems that the former midfield engine has been waiting for Michael Carrick’s first defeat – to continue his argument that Carrick cannot get the permanent job as manager of the Red Devils.

The loss came against Newcastle at St. James’ Park on Wednesday. Even with ten men in the second half, Eddie Howe managed to lead Newcastle to a 2-1 victory. This broke Carrick’s unbeaten streak after ten games as United manager (Solskjaer had eleven). After the game, Scholes made a strange message on social media.

“Michael definitely has something special about him… because United have been shit the last four games… night,” Scholes wrote.

However, this something special about Carrick is not enough for Carrick to be worthy of the permanent job. Recently, Scholes made the analysis that ends with Man Utd needing the very coach in the world of football.

– … They need a leader with presence,” Scholes began in the podcast The Good, The Bad and The Football.

“The question is whether Michael has the experience. I know that’s a big question. He has managed teams in the Championship, but this is different. The perfect candidate out there, yes, I say the perfect one – Carlo Ancelotti is still out there. I know he’s Brazil’s national team coach, but he’s perfect for Manchester United. He makes the players feel like a million dollars, says Scholes.

That doesn’t leave a Carrick or Solskjaer a chance to succeed as Man Utd manager.
