Manchester United need a left-back. Now it is reported that a strong candidate to cascade up and down (preferably up) the left wing for United is dissatisfied and will be available.

Nuno Mendes has recently been linked with Manchester United, according to RMC Sport, PSG have not met the salary demands of the Portuguese international.

The 22-year-old has worn the PSG shirt since 2021, a permanent transfer from Sporting in 2022.

At Sporting, Mendes was picked up from the academy by Ruben Amorim, making his senior debut in June 2020. At 18, the left-back became the youngest player in a starting eleven since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2002. There were a total of 47 games at Sporting before moving on to the giant PSG.

After 99 games at PSG with a contract expiring in 2026, the Ligue 1 club has been interested in tying the 22-year-old to an extension. The French media reports that Mendes has rejected PSG’s salary offer and wants to leave.

The French media claims Manchester United have shown concrete interest, which has made an impression on Mendes. With the Portuguese’s former coach and mentor, Ruben Amorim, a move to Manchester United may seem natural.

The 22-year-old already has 33 caps for Portugal, FIFA’s 6th highest ranked football nation.
