For two seasons, Arsenal have finished the season runner-up to the Premier League title. Strong performances, but for the supporters, the players and the club, there is little glory in the “first loser’s place”. Sunday 21 September is one of the games Arsenal will win at home to build the foundation for the PL title. Then it is sour for captain Martin Ødegaard to line up against Haaland and the gang without Arsenal’s defensive general.
William Saliba only managed a handful of minutes on the pitch as Arsenal lost 1-0 to Liverpool at Anfield. The French defender had to go out with an ankle injury and then had to withdraw from the French national team. The extent of the injury has not been known, but according to L’Équipe, Saliba will not be able to return after the international break.
