On Friday, an NRK Radio reporter was asked about the prospects of Bodø/Glimt advancing to the final after the loss in the first semi-final against Tottenham. The optimism was there, but he did not realize that the Bodø/Glimt players could be seen “high and dark” after a game with a 3-1 loss, where they had virtually no shot on goal. We, on the other hand, love this “high and dark” attitude of the players in yellow. With this, Glimt goes to the final.

When Djurgården fought their way through to the semi-finals against Chelsea in the Conference League, one of the managers at the Allsvenskan club had more than enough to tell the media how fantastic it was to play for a company with Chelsea, Fiorentina and Real Betis. For us, it seemed like the biggest thing had already happened for Djurgården, to be in the semi-finals with the big European clubs. On Thursday, it was a “starstruck” Allsvenskan club that was run over by Chelsea to a 1-4 loss.

In London, the Bodø/Glimt players refused to give up, the reward came seven minutes before the end. With two goals in the red at Aspmyra next week, the Glimt players and Knutsen know what they are up against. This is in addition to Patrick Berg and Håkon Evjen returning, Aspmyra gives the multi-millionaires from London no advantage – and Tottenham have to go through a bone battle against West Ham in the Premier League, four days before Aspmyra.

So for us, the Bodø/Glimt players have every reason to be “tall and dark” when they speak out about their own chances of sending Tottenham out of the Europa League.

It is also good to hear an angry, but not beaten Kjetil Knutsen after losing by two goals to Tottenham in London.

“It’s just too simple and not good enough. Then there are a lot of details, I haven’t been able to see all of them, but we’ll just have to learn from that. So we should be happy we still have opportunities when we go to Aspmyra in a week, we have to take that with us now, then we will take an extreme amount of learning with us. We get three players back, so we have a little more to choose from for us to be competitive in the last game.

Djurgården got a football lesson from Chelsea, after the game Swedish media highlighted the story that Djurgården player Tobias Gulliksen was praised by Chelsea star Marc Cucurella with: “He (Gulliksen) showed he has a lot of quality.”

Bodø/Glimt are in a completely different place than Sweden’s semi-finalists out in Europe. No more being starstruck, all games can be won, especially at Aspmyra.

The BBC sums up what awaits Tottenham next week: “The second leg in the Arctic Circle is no formality, with Glimt beating Porto, Besiktas, Olympiakos and Lazio at home this season. Their win rate at home in the Europa League since 2022-23 is 70%, compared to 9% on the road.»
