Ruben Amorim came in in November 2025 and charmed everyone. Even United legend Gary Neville got carried away by the Portuguese’s charisma and football philosophy. Until he sent Manchester United into a dark hole in the Premier League. A hole filled with losses, draws and a historically weak 15th place. This season, “everything was going to change”. Things brightened up as well, but when losses continued to come without Amorim budging from his “I’ll never change” formation, there was an internal conflict that led to Amorim never getting his promised “three years to succeed” by United boss Ratcliffe. Now there are “signals” that Amorim is opening up for untraditional choices.

Because according to VDG-Cast, the Brazilian club Vasco da Gama has the former Manchester United coach on the block. Admittedly, with former Braga coach Artur Jorge as Vasco da Gama’s plan A, but still.

There is no word on whether the Portuguese himself would be interested in the vacant coaching position, but the fact that a Brazilian club sees itself as the next natural destination for a Man Utd coach who was sacked as recently as January, shows that Amorim has not necessarily closed doors to unconventional choices.
