Ole Didrik Blomberg, who came from Brann this winter, immediately became an integral part of Bodø/Glimt. – The right winger is back on the training ground, but it is not certain that he will make it to the historic Europa League semi-final against Tottenham on May 1.

There is positive news from Bodø/Glimt’s camp: Ole Didrik Blomberg is back on the training ground! The Monday after the impressive 3-0 win over YMCA, the Bergen native was out on the artificial turf in Bodø and looked fresh and alert. Although the session was somewhat adapted, it was clear that he did not hold back – an encouraging development after the horror when he left Aker Stadium on crutches last week.

“I doubt that he will be ready, but we hope to get him in the squad,” says an honest, but optimistic Bodø/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen to VG.

Blomberg has been a key player for Glimt since his transfer from Brann, starting in all of the last six Europa League games – including the memorable encounters against Twente, Olympiakos and Lazio.

If Blomberg misses the game, almost half of the starting line-up from the Roma meeting with Lazio will be absent:

  • Patrick Berg and Håkon Evjen are out due to quarantine.
  • Odin Bjørtuft had to go out against KFUM with what looked like a stretch injury.
  • Andreas Helmersen, the hero from Roma with the goal that led to the penalty drama, is also suspended.

But Knutsen does not give up:
We still have hope (for Bjørtuft), but he is unsure, I must be able to say,” he says.

Historic semi-final awaits

The first match against Tottenham will be played on Thursday at 21:00 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, before the return leg goes to Aspmyra the following week. In the other semi-final, Athletic Club and Manchester United will meet.

Even though the injuries make it challenging, Bodø/Glimt have shown time and time again that they surprise and impress – and now the whole of Norway is ready to cheer them on for another great feat!
