One of the quotes from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s broadcast in Besiktas’ official channels is “I’m here to help” at the same time as he knows it will be tough, a lot of good things have already happened in the Turkish big club.
The last two league games have been lost, yet the club currently manages to hold on to the 4th place they have conquered. The losses, also at the friendly match a few days ago, are a warning for the club. The Norwegian manager talks openly about the problems, the thoughts he has about the future and the job that needs to be done.
On Saturday, at home at Tüpraş Stadyumu, it is ready for what can be done with the most electric match of the season. Besiktas will host league leader Galatasaray at 1830.
The questions are in Turkish and Ole Gunnar, who promises to learn the language, answers in English.

- “I hope that the fans have a long-term perspective, despite the fact that we have lost some games”
Solskjaer further sounds the alarm about the fact that other football nations invest more in development from a young age than is done in Turkey. “It’s a warning for us. We have to raise the level. I’m here to help Besiktas, but also, with all due respect, to promote Turkish football”
“My job is to lift Besiktas to an even higher level. Together we must make the league better”

- Solskjaer explains that there are already changes in how the club works:
- “We want to sign different types of players than we have done before. Players who we hope can help Besiktas in the future. Players who can come in, develop and become really good for us, or maybe so good that we can sell them to top clubs. That way we can become a top club and fight for trophies again”
- “We have to make as many right decisions as possible. We can’t waste money. The economic situation is not perfect, so we have to be smart”
