It is quite possible that the French football legend who played for Bordeaux early in his career will join the second round if one of Germany’s definitive football tycoons Oliver Kahn buys the French crisis club.

Khan has a past as chairman of Bayern Munich, as well as a fantastic football career, where he represented Karlsruhe, Bayern and the German national team.

Zinedine Zidane was the ulimate spearhead for France, while goalkeeper Oliver Kahn was the ultimate organiser of Germany’s defence for a number of years. Bordeaux tried to bring in Zinedine Zidane, who played for the club from 1992 to 1996 after Roma owner Dan Friedkin dropped out of negotiations over a purchase in the last round.

Now Oliver Kahn is in talks to buy Bordeaux

The discussions are in an early phase, something Kahn told Bold: “The discussions about a possible entry into the Girondins de Bordeaux are in the early stages. There is nothing more to say at this point”

Bordeaux, who have won Ligue 1 six times (1949/50, 1983/84, 1984/85, 1986/87, 1998/99, 2008/09), were recently relegated to the fourth tier of French football due to weak and messy finances.

Founder Gérard Lopez will now be in charge of the hard-hit club. According to Sud Ouest, it was former Marseille owner Jacques-Henri Eyraud who initiated negotiations with Lopez on behalf of Kahn in December.
