Former Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg hasn’t made it swing as manager of MLS club St. Louis City. Now the job is hanging by a very thin thread.
The 47-year-old, who has had a very successful career playing for clubs such as Aston Villa, Villarreal, Racing Santander, Juventus, AIK, Olympiakos and FC Copenhagen, has probably gaped over a little too much across the pond.

Aftonbladet writes that things must turn around immediately for the Swedish manager, otherwise he will be fired.
It’s been ten games without a win
The 3-0 defeat to Minnesota United last night was the team’s tenth game in a row without a win.
Already a week ago, local media reported dissatisfaction among supporters with Mellberg’s results. Now, his time at the MLS club could soon be over.
Mellberg and assistant coach Azrudin Valentić will probably have to leave their positions soon, unless there is a dramatic improvement.
The 47-year-old Swede took over St. Louis City this winter after leaving BK Häcken. Earlier in his coaching career, he has also led Helsingborg and Danish Fremad Amager.

Poor placement
St. Louis City is second-to-last in the Western MLS Conference, further reinforcing the pressure on the coaching staff.
Now it remains to be seen if the club will take the final step and end the collaboration with the former Swedish international.
