After the 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth, several Spurs players were out discussing loudly with visiting Tottenham supporters. Then came the statement from captain Cristian Romero, who criticised the Spurs management for hiding in adversity. On Friday, the situation came to a head when the Tottenham Hotspur Supporter’s Trust published a letter summarizing the strong dissatisfaction with the situation.
Here is part of the supporters’ summary of the situation: “Members of THST’s Board of Directors met today (9.1.26) with representatives from the club at senior level to discuss supporters’ concerns regarding recent events and the current situation at the club. We emphasized the need for the club’s management to communicate directly with the fans about these matters.”

“THST’s board has been in dialogue with the football club’s top management in recent weeks and months and has repeatedly raised supporters’ concerns with them. While we acknowledge the changes in the personnel behind the scenes at the club, this has unfortunately not been matched by improvements on the pitch.”
“There also appears to be a dramatic drop in the football club’s ambitions, as evidenced by the transfer window so far and repeated statements from Thomas Frank, reminding fans that the club finished 17th in the Premier League last season, that the club only participates in the Champions League by winning the Europa League, and that Bournemouth (a team without a win in 11 games) is “always a difficult team”, and that he “doesn’t like the job.”
“Supporters are embarrassed that players confront them directly to exercise their right to express themselves, that the captain publicly criticises ‘other people’ at the club who do not speak, except ‘to tell a couple of lies’, and that the manager is photographed drinking from an Arsenal cup seemingly unaware that he is doing so.”
“While these events may have explanations that we can understand and even sympathize with, they demonstrate a lack of understanding and a lack of concern for the perception of the football club. We reiterated to the club that we believe that the club’s management should address these issues publicly and through direct communication with the fans.”

“We stressed that fans need to hear directly from the club’s management about the club’s ambitions for this season, for next season and in the near future. It begins, but is certainly not limited to, the upcoming transfer window, where all means must be put in place to demonstrate that Tottenham Hotspur is a serious football club, and that we really want to ‘win more, more often’.”
