Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana could reportedly be sold to the Saudi professional league, after the Cameroonian international has fallen further down the hierarchy at Old Trafford following the arrival of Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.
Altay Bayindir has started the 2025/26 season as Manchester United’s first choice, with the Turkish international gaining the confidence in all three of the team’s Premier League games so far this season.

Onana, on the other hand, has been limited to just one appearance, and he struggled in that game, which was against Grimsby Town in the second round of the EFL Cup.
The goalkeeper, who arrived from Inter Milan in 2023, committed two mistakes that led to goals against Grimsby, and he then only managed to save one of the League Two side’s twelve penalties in the penalty shootout.
Manchester United confirmed the signing of Lammens on the final day of the transfer day, with the Belgian set to fight for his place as first choice at Old Trafford, and his arrival means the Red Devils now have four senior goalkeeper players, as Tom Heaton signed a new one-year contract in the summer.
According to Football Insider, Onana could make the move to the Saudi Arabian professional league before their September 23 transfer deadline, with Manchester United eager to get him out after Lammens’ arrival.
The report claims that Onana was determined to remain at Old Trafford throughout the summer, but he can now be considered the club’s third-choice goalkeeper following the arrival of Lammens.
Onana has made a number of high-profile mistakes since his arrival in Manchester, and it is understood that he has lost the trust of his teammates due to his problems between the sticks.
It is not certain that Lammens will immediately be Manchester United’s first choice, but Bayindir seems to be solid ahead of Onana in head coach Ruben Amorim’s thoughts at this stage.
Manchester United have revealed that Lammens will wear the number 31 shirt for the 20-time English champions.
The 23-year-old has signed a contract at Old Trafford until June 2030, and he will be in competition to make his debut for the Red Devils in the Manchester derby against Manchester City on September 14.
“This is my dream transition,” Lammens told MUTV. “When I was five years old, United were at the top of football and you always remember how big Manchester United are, so when I heard they were interested, it was like a childhood dream.”
“I remember when I was a kid, Manchester United winning the Champions League and winning the league, and also [I want] to help the team reach a level where they can compete for the title again and play the Champions League again. That’s also one of my biggest goals, that I want to grow with the team and reach the heights that used to be Manchester United.”
“It’s one of the biggest clubs in the world and the Premier League is the biggest competition in the world. On my team in Antwerp, there were some players who had also been to England and when I spoke to them about Manchester United, you could directly see their face change.”
“The club alone, the aura of the club, is massive, and to be here today, to see that, it’s another level. It’s crazy. So that was also a big part of why I chose Manchester United. I’m very happy that we were able to get it done today.”
Lammens is not currently in the Belgium national team squad, but he is seen as a long-term successor to Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for his country.
