There’s something about Manchester United and veterans. Jonny Evans was brought out of retirement in 2023 and was only finished as a 37-year-old this summer. Tom Heaton has been part of the goalkeeper team since 2021, this year he has passed 39. Which turns out to be exactly what it takes to take a new season for one of the world’s biggest clubs.
“I am incredibly proud to continue representing Manchester United. As a group, we are all very excited about the upcoming season. I am ready to support the team in every way possible as we prepare to compete for the biggest titles again,” a delighted Heaton told the club’s website after agreeing a contract extension.

In a run-up to next season with big questions about what will happen with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, and whether United create more calm with a new first goalkeeper, it is reassuring to have Heaton involved next season as well. The veteran plays an important role on the training field and in the locker room – and when he has to step into the match arena.
Congratulations!
