Let it be said, we love native English Sean Dyche as a coach. When he was in charge of Burnley, the big clubs in the Premier League dreaded going to Turf Moor and Dyche football. So when Nottingham Forest brought in Dyche in October, after a guest visit by Ange Postecoglou, the enthusiasm was great. The first thing Dyche did was tell what he wasn’t going to do, like a Postecoglou, or Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. Four months later, it is Dyche who is in trouble.

Ange Postecolgou was sacked after eight games, firefighting and “no-bullshit” and Dyche was brought to the City Ground to play Premier League football, where it will not look pretty, but be effective.

“I’ve seen enough fashionistas come in and out of the Premier League,” Sean Dyche began in his first press conference as Forest manager.

-You have to win the games, it’s as simple as that. Long ball, short ball? You just have to play effective football. It will never go out of style,” the new Forest manager grumbled.

Last season, Ange Postecoglou and Ruben Amorim received continuous criticism for not winning games in the Premier League, with Tottenham sinking to 17th place and Manchester United to 15th, while the two managers kept to “their football” and refused to change. For Sean Dyche, this is a bunch of football’s fashionistas.

Forest were well on their way to relegation battle in October, but four months later the situation has unfortunately not changed. In fact, Nottingham Forest continue to sink towards the relegation zone, even with Dyche’s cynical Premier League football. Now Dyche is also at risk of being fired. The paradox is that the English manager was nominated for the Coach of the Month award in January and has given the club 6 Premier League wins, with the wild 0-3 win against Liverpool at Anfield on top.

According to The Telegraph , Dyche is under a lot of pressure. If he loses the game against Wolverhampton this week, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is likely to press the panic button once again. The club is set up for a Champions League ticket – not the Championship.

Forest stand with 26 points after 25 games and the place above relegation, West Ham on the offensive (with former Forest coach Nuno Santo) are three points behind.

If there’s one coach you want on the sidelines in the fight for survival in the Premier League, it’s Sean Dyche. For us, it’s crazy to dump one of the best Premier League coaches in January, who has actually been successful, given the starting point in October.
