In January, right up until the transfer window closed at the beginning of February, Alexander Sørloth was heavily linked to Serie A clubs. Juventus were on until the market closed to secure a new striker, but it was reports of an Italian “miniputt”, which created the most interest. Sørloth stayed at Atletico Madrid, has had a terrific period in 2026 for the La Liga giant, but this “mini-putt” continues to show Sørloth has a very interesting club to “pull to”, if it turns out that the bench calls again at Atletico.

This “miniputt” is Como. You will hardly find any more scenic stadiums like this club, located at the end of idyllic Lake Como, but Alexander Sørloth will not go there for the nature experience, the luxury or the casino. The place also has one of Europe’s most exciting club projects.

At the beginning of January, several Italian media outlets reported that Como were willing to break the transfer record with a €35 million bid for Sørloth, an amount Atletico reportedly signalled they would accept. Como, with the legend Cesc Fabregas as coach, was supposed to lure Sørloth with an absolute leading role. This came when Sørloth still hadn’t let go from the bench and hammered in goals in the Atletico shirt. We then thought this project could be right for Sørloth in the run-up to the World Championships.

Now it has worked out at Atletico, where Sørltoh on Saturday recorded two new La Liga goals, which has made the Norwegian national team striker bigger than the icon Luis Suarez. Still, when Como also wins their game this weekend – away against the giant Juventus – then we stand by that Como and Fabregas could be an exciting choice for Sørloth at the next crossroads.

With the win over Juventus, Como is lurking at a Champions League ticket, only two points behind Roma in 4th place.

In the spring of 2025, Bayer Leverkusen worked hard to get Como head coach Fagregas to drop Como and take over from Xabi Alonso. Fabregas politely declined. Como, who before last season were promoted to Serie A after over 20 years, not only managed to avoid relegation with former assistant coach Fabregas as manager, but had an exceptionally strong season with six straight wins and 48 points, which secured their place in the top division by a good margin.

Backed by the Hartono brothers and Asian billionaires, the club has invested almost 100 million euros last season. Fàbregas will not only be, he will lead the next phase of a very ambitious project with goals that extend far into the future.

This is a project that needs a food-winning striker like Sørloth. For the 30-year-old, a possible and well-deserved starring role in a project for the next few seasons, a club that is showing incredible climbing skills on the Serie A table since promotion after the 2023/24 season.
