At 34, Antoine Grirezmann’s career is naturally on the wane, but the Frenchman last season extended his contract with Atletico Madrid until 2027. This season,Griez stands with an impressive 12 goals and two assists in 35 games and is on his own. Now, however, it is reported that the French striker is in negotiations with a new club. For Sørloth, this could mean that the sparkling interaction with the French icon is coming to an end.
Griezmann has previously stated that he wants to end his career in MLS, Atletico coach Diego Simeone continues to praise their all-time top scorer when asked about Griezmann. In the Copa del Rey semi-final against Barcelona, the 34-year-old starred in a scintillating 4-0 win in the first leg.

According toThe Athletic , it is rather doubtful that Atletico will be able to keep Griezmann. The English media claims the French legend is in “advanced talks” with MLS club Orlando City, which has bought his “discovery rights” (a peculiarly American system). They are eager to bring him in before the end of the MLS transfer window (March 26), but the 34-year-old’s camp says he is unlikely to move before the end of the European season.
There is no deal in place yet, nor have negotiations between Atletico and Orlando taken place, but Los Colchoneros are expected to take Griezmann’s wishes into account in any negotiations.
For Alexander Sørloth, this means that half of Atletico’s super duo Griezmann/Sørloth, who last season was highlighted in the Spanish media as one of the best attacking combinations in La Liga, will disappear.

Sørloth and Griezmann are two complementary types of players, with the Frenchman often delivering the creative passes that end with Sørloth’s clinical finishing. Now it could be over after this season.
