Back in 2019, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought Crystal Palace star Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United. The United manager hailed the right-back as one of the best tacklers in the Premier League, defending United’s £50 million investment for the 6th most expensive defender in Premier League history without caps. Then Solskjaer disappeared, and Wan Bissaka lost his strong position in the squad before his exit last summer. Now the 27-year-old is making a drastic, but logical move.
Wan-Bissaka wore the England national team shirt at U21 level, but has never made his debut in England’s senior team. The right-back has not quite come up to the top over the years at Manchester United, not even with last season at West Ham. Now the Englishman doesn’t bother to wait any longer for the call-up.

With two passes and no senior games for England, Wan-Bissaka pulls out his DR Congo passport and is now officially selected to play for the Congolese national team.
On Friday, Congo plays South Sudan, next Tuesday Senegal awaits. When Wan-Bissaka enters the arena on Friday, he will also close the door to the Three Lions, once and for all. Better that than watching the international matches from the couch.
