Former Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City players are among the few footballers who have played in all of Europe’s five major leagues.

Here are the five players who have played in the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

Christian Poulsen

The Danish defensive midfielder played for eight different clubs during his career and had stints in each of Europe’s five major leagues.

His most memorable periods came at Schalke, Sevilla and Juventus, where he spent the best years of his career.

In 2010, Liverpool bought him for around £4.5 million, although he only lasted one season at Anfield before he was back on the move.

After leaving Liverpool in 2011, Poulsen completed the set of Europe’s major leagues when he joined Evian in Ligue 1 for the 2011/12 season.

He has since retired as a professional footballer and was recently an assistant coach for the Danish national team.

Florin Raducioiu

The Romanian striker had a career that spanned 19 years, from 1985 to 2004.

He played for ten different clubs during his career and rarely stayed in one place for long.

After making a name for himself in his home country, he moved to Italy in 1990 and had stints in Bari, Greece Verona, Brescia and AC Milan.

In 1994, he then moved to Spain and played for Espanyol, where he had some of the best years of his career.

West Ham signed him in 1996, although he struggled to adapt to English football and only lasted half a season at the club before returning to Spain.

Raducioiu spent one year in Germany for Stuttgart, and just before retiring, he had a short stay in Monaco, where he scored two goals in 12 games.

Stevan Jovetic

Once predicted to become one of the most promising strikers of his generation, Jovetic was highly sought after in his early years at Fiorentina.

After having an impressive scoring record in Italy, he moved to Manchester City in 2013 for a transfer fee of approximately £23 million.

The Montenegrin scored 11 goals during his two years in England, but injuries had already begun to limit his playing time at this point.

It has ultimately been a recurring theme in Jovetic’s career, especially in his later years at Sevilla, Monaco and Hertha BSC.

Between 2017 and 2021, the striker missed over 150 games due to various injuries, and he has been unlucky enough to suffer two separate ACL injuries at different times in his career.

Despite the injury nightmare he has been through, the 35-year-old still plays professional football today for Omonia in Cyprus.

Justin Kluivert

Impressively, Kluivert managed to tick off each of Europe’s major leagues before he turned 25.

While playing for Roma, the Dutch striker had loan spells in Germany, France and Spain, before making the permanent move to Bournemouth in England.

The 26-year-old has since established himself as a top player in the Premier League, having provided 18 assists in the league last season.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang’s inclusion on this list comes with a footnote.

Although he has had memorable spells in France, England, Spain and Germany, he has never actually played a match in Italy’s top division.

The Gabonese was associated with AC Milan from 2007 to 2011, but never played a league game for the Italian club, despite a few bench appearances.

He has therefore technically never played in Serie A, but given that he was associated with Milan for four years, we have included him in our list here.

His most goal-scoring spells came during his time in Germany with Dortmund and in England with Arsenal. He also made a good impression while playing for Barcelona, Saint-Étienne and Marseille.
