Together with parts of the German media, we have applauded Erik ten Hag as Borussia Dortmund coach. Earlier this month, the Dutchman was given a tour of Dortmund’s facility. Ten Hag has very good contacts with the management, has experience from German football as Bayern Munich II coach and is very keen to return to get revenge after the United debacle in the last year. Now there are signals Dortmund have another option in the works.

Nuri Sahin was sacked as Dortmund coach after the loss to Bologna on Tuesday, 39-year-old Mike Tullberg has been appointed as a substitute, and will lead the club against Werder Bremen this weekend.

This is not the permanent solution, as the Dortmund management is looking for an experienced coach who can lift the club back to the top of the Bundesliga.

In addition to Erik ten Hag, German media have reported that former Bayern Munich coach Nico Kovac is in the running. According to German Sky Sports, Kovac is not only a candidate, the parties are now in negotiations.

The German media claims Dortmund are interested in initially giving a contract for the rest of the season (no wonder Ten Hag is not an option), which Kovac is said to be willing to do.
