Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly turned down the opportunity to leave Al-Nassr and participate in the first new edition of the Club World Cup this summer.

The Portuguese legend has in recent months been heavily linked with a departure from Al-Nassr, with his contract expiring in July, and a move to a club that will play in the Club World Cup 2025 has been mentioned as an option.

It’s pretty unbelievable that a player who is only worth 12 million euros (and that’s with fairytale glasses) actually gets a contract that gives him 400 million.

According to Fichajes, however, Ronaldo has rejected the possibility of switching clubs and instead he will extend his contract with Al-Nassr in a deal worth as much as €400 million.

Saudi side Al-Hilal and Egyptian side Al Ahly – both qualified for the Club World Cup – are among the clubs who wanted to sign Ronaldo, but that the 40-year-old is still “deeply committed” to Al-Nassr and wants to sign a new deal with the club.

Real Madrid and Chelsea have also been weakly linked with a potential one-month deal with Ronaldo to be able to participate in the Club World Cup, but now it seems highly unlikely that he will leave Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo is reportedly set to sign a new two-year contract with Al-Nassr worth a whopping €200 million per year, as the Saudi Arabian club want to keep him in Riyadh.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker has scored 91 goals in 102 appearances for Al-Nassr since arriving in 2023 but is yet to win a trophy with the club. (The level of the league can be compared to boys 13)

At the same time, although Ronaldo is on track to extend his contract with Al-Nassr, he has not yet formally signed a new deal, and speculation about his future is therefore expected to continue until a public announcement

is made.

In other words, there will be no Club World Cup for Cristiano Ronaldo and now that there will be two more years of desert football, there is a good chance that there will not be a World Cup for Portugal either in the summer of 2026.
