These are not small words that Antoine Semenyo uses about himself in the well-being interview after his transfer to Manchester City. “Powerful, fast, strong and clinical”. – The Sky Blues have waited to concretize a solution for the Norwegian right winger Oscar Bobb, until they landed a deal that did not weaken the attack.
Now it’s in place: Manchester City are signing Antoine Semenyo, who is proud!
In recent years, Antoine Semenyo has been one of the Premier League’s top attacking players. This has led to the winger being the subject of interest.

Now the Ghanaian is being bought away from Bournemouth.
Semenyo is ready for Manchester City and has signed a 5.5-year contract with the Light Blues. According to The Athletic, the price tag lands at £62.5 million plus £1.5 million in bonuses, taking the total just above his buyout clause.
“I’ve seen City under Pep Guardiola over the last decade and they’ve been the dominant team in the Premier League, as well as achieving incredible things in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.”
The reason why Bournemouth are paid a little more than what the buyout clause requires, is that City wanted to spread the payment over 24 months, and then the clubs have agreed on the said solution.
“The Cherries” have also negotiated a resale clause of ten percent in the deal.
Manchester City’s sporting director Hugo Viana is pleased: “Antoine is an exciting signing. He immediately made it clear to us that it was City he wanted to join. His enthusiasm for this club has been evident throughout the process.”
“He has tremendous quality. Two good feet, speed, strength and a habit of making a mark on the games, and more importantly – there is room for development.”
At Manchester City, Semenyo will wear number 42. “It was my first number at Bristol City and it has always followed me. It was between 42 and 24, and 24 was not available. So I went back to my previous number. That was the inspiration”
Semenyo joined Bournemouth from Bristol City at the start of 2023. He also has a background at clubs such as Sunderland, Newport County and Bath City.
In other words, the biggest signing battle in the Premier League is over. The Ghanaian international chose City over competing interests from clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham.
The winger arrives at the Etihad as one of the league’s hottest profiles. Last season, he scored 11 Premier League goals, and already after 20 games this season, he stands with 10 goals.
Signature gives green light for Bobb – Dortmund favourite on loan
At the same time as City strengthen themselves with Semenyo, the door opens for a loan move for Oscar Bobb. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Norwegian winger has received the club’s permission for a loan stay now that the Semenyo signing is a fact.
Bobb has long been tightly placed in Pep Guardiola’s playing time, and a loan move is seen as necessary to secure him the necessary playing time before the World Cup finals. Romano reports that Borussia Dortmund are the clear favourite to secure Bobb for the rest of the season.
This will give the young Norwegian the opportunity to play regularly at a high level in the Bundesliga and Champions League – a perfect arena to prepare for the championship.
There will be a meeting between the parties this weekend with a view to reaching a solution at the beginning of next week.
