Molde has put behind them a season that will be sent straight into oblivion.

Per-Mathias Høgmo came in as the new head coach a couple of days ago after Erling Moe was fired. Now he has started the job, a thing that at least cannot complain about the salary. Now the former national team manager for Norway brings with him Pål Arne “Paco” Johansen, who was given the job of taking over Häcken when the 65-year-old traveled to Japan.

On Molde’s pages you can see the first interview with Per-Mathias Høgmo, and you are sure to get some good stories. Among other things, he said as his leadership style: “I have three i’s that are central. One is involvement. The second is innovation. We are in an industry that is constantly evolving. The final touch is inspiration. It’s about creating a structure where everyone feels seen. Where we work in a structured way to develop each other, and that it is put into a system.”

The success of Per-Mathias Høgmo in Häcken, which included Allsvenskan gold revitalized his career which before that was considered “finished”.

Molde seems to like ex-coaches from Häcken.

The 47-year-old from Brønnøysund brings with him good and varied coaching experience. He started his coaching career as a playing coach for Groruddalen Ballklubb and then took on the role of player developer in Lyn in 2003. Since then, he has had key roles as assistant coach for the Norwegian women’s national team, Hønefoss and Polish Legia Warsaw, where he worked under Henning Berg.

Johansen made a name for himself as a national team coach when he led Norway’s G18 and G19 national teams from 2016, with highlights such as participation in the European Championship for G19 in 2018 and the U20 World Championship in 2019. In 2022, he took over as head coach of Odd in the Eliteserien, and he recently ended a period as head coach of Swedish Häcken.

Pål Arne “Paco” Johansen will be assistant coach and the contract will be signed over two years with an option for one more season.

“I have to say that it is a great pleasure to start working in Molde,” says “Paco” in a message.

“Paco’s” last assignment was in Häcken, from which he was fired last autumn.

Molde finished fifth in the Eliteserien last season and avoided playing in Europe after losing the final of the Norwegian championship against Fredrikstad.
