There were no experts who believed that Häcken would win Allsvenskan gold, but that was before the smart and hired Per-Mathias Høgmo as head coach. – So at the end of December 2023 after two and a half successful years, the 65-year-old was brought to the Japanese big club Urawa Red Diamonds.
It didn’t go as well, so this summer Per-Mathias Høgmo had to pack his bags and go home. Since then, many have had him on their lists. There has been talk of the national team manager job for Iceland and two head coach jobs in Sweden, Djurgården and Häcken.

Expressen reports that the Norwegian is one of a couple of final candidates that Häcken is looking at in his coaching search. Høgmo was responsible for the black and yellow between 2021 and 2023. During that period, he led the club to both a cup and Swedish championship gold.
Häcken has been without a permanent head coach since Pål Arne “Paco” Johansen was fired. Joop Oosterveld was promoted from the P19 team and led the team last autumn on a temporary basis.
Malmö, which has many Norwegians in the squad, including Colin Rösler, Oliver Berg, Lasse Berg Johnson and Erik Botheim, won the Allsvenskan this year by a good margin, while Häcken landed in eighth place.
