Bayern Munich have not given up on signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool, despite their initial bid being rejected. The German champion is reportedly preparing a new offer, but is not willing to go over a certain financial limit. If Liverpool continue to resist, Bayern are ready to turn their attention to alternative targets – with Lyon’s Malick Fofana as a potential option.

Bayern looking for a left winger

The Bundesliga giant is looking for a new left winger. While the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace has covered the need on the right flank, the left side is still an unresolved issue. Leré Sané has left for Turkey, Kingsley Coman is expected to leave the club, and there is uncertainty about Serge Gnabry’s future. The departures of Thomas Müller and the injury to Jamal Musiala have further reduced Bayern’s attacking options.

Several goalkeepers have already turned down Bayern, including Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, who has chosen to stay in Spain. Luis Diaz, who is considered a dream signing for the club, is reportedly interested in a move to Munich and has been offered up to five times his current salary at Liverpool.

Diaz willing, but Bayern have limits

The Colombian winger is open to a move to Bayern, but the German club’s initial bid of €68 million was rejected. Liverpool are said to be unwilling to consider a deal under €75 million. Bayern are reluctant to go that high and are now considering other options, including younger and less established names.

One such player is Eberechi Eze, who previously formed a strong partnership with Olise at Crystal Palace. However, the England international reportedly prefers a move to Arsenal. As a result, Bayern have started to look towards more affordable and lesser-known options.

Malick Fofana on the radar

One of the names being considered is Malick Fofana from Lyon. The French club is expected to sell several players this summer due to financial difficulties, and Fofana is among their most valuable players. A transfer could be possible for around 35 million euros.

The 20-year-old Belgian international impressed last year, especially in the Europa League against Manchester United. Fofana, who is a product of Ghent’s academy, scored 11 goals and provided six assists in all competitions. Although he is not at the level of Diaz or Williams yet, the potential is clear and he will be a significantly cheaper option.

However, Bayern are not alone in their interest. Nottingham Forest have also reportedly considered a bid for the winger. It remains to be seen whether Fofana is the solution to Bayern’s left-wing problem, but the Bavarians may have to act quickly if the pursuit of Diaz does not progress.
