Manchester United’s striker Marcus Rashford is said to have aroused interest from another Premier League big club.

After Aston Villa failed to qualify for the Champions League, Rashford is in a precarious situation. Manchester United preferred Villa to exercise their £40m purchase option, while Marcus Rashford is reportedly eyeing a move to Barcelona.

However, the Spanish champions are apparently showing greater interest in signing Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.

Rashford will therefore have to consider other options, considering that the door is probably closed to playing under Rúben Amorim at Old Trafford.

Newcastle United ready to seize the opportunity

Newcastle United are ready to take advantage of the uncertainty and give Rashford the opportunity to kickstart his career again in 2025.

“The Magpies” hope to lure the England international to St James’ Park with an offer of Champions League football.

Newcastle prefer to negotiate a one-season loan spell, while United naturally want a permanent transfer.

Financial pressure for United

United are under pressure to raise money after paying £62.5 million for Matheus Cunha and are looking to invest heavily in several new players.

A sale of Rashford would yield pure profit according to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules, and be more beneficial than selling players like Antony and Jadon Sancho.

An easy decision for Rashford?

A move to Newcastle could be a solution that suits all parties, especially since Eddie Howe prefers to sign players who can play in multiple positions.

If he stays injury-free, the 27-year-old will naturally get regular game time, as he did at Aston Villa.

This is true even if there is an argument that Rashford will not be considered first choice when the full squad is available.

Rashford himself may prefer a loan deal to keep the possibility open for a later transfer to another club.
