No, it is not the exclusion of last season’s winner Erling Braut Haaland, who is being reacted to not being on the list, but rather Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes, who fans believe has fought hard.

Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard is also not involved this year, nor is Jørgen Strand Larsen, who has really picked up the scoring pace on loan at Wolverhampton from Celta Vigo. (Arrive late to the table)

Fans have given their opinion on social media after the nominees for Premier League Player of the Year were announced. As the Premier League season draws to a close, it’s time to hand out the individual accolades.

On Thursday morning, the eight players nominated for Premier League Player of the Year were announced.

As expected, newly crowned league champions Liverpool had the most nominations, with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch all on the list.

The trio from Liverpool were followed by Newcastle United’s star Alexander Isak, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Arsenal’s midfielder Declan Rice, as well as Nottingham Forest duo Morgan Gibbs-White and Chris Wood.

Liverpool’s Salah is the heavy favourite to win the award after scoring 28 goals and providing 18 assists in the league this season.

On social media, many fans reacted to Manchester United’s captain Bruno Fernandes not being included.

One fan wrote,
“Where is Bruno Fernandes?”

Another added:
“Where is Bruno Fernandes? The best midfielder.”

A fourth commented:
“Bruno also deserved a chance. Without him, United would have been relegated by now.”

“What criteria are used for the selection? We miss the mighty Bruno – why????”

Fernandes’ impressive season

Despite a weak season for Manchester United, Fernandes has played a key role under both Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim.

In the Premier League this season, the Portuguese star has recorded 8 goals and 10 assists in 34 games. In total, he has 19 goals and 19 assists in 54 games across all competitions.

Fernandes will now be hoping to lead United to triumph in the Europa League final against Tottenham next week. The match will be played at San Mamés in Bilbao, Spain.
