Finally, Bryan Mbeumo could grin in front of the camera wearing his Man Utd shirt number 19. The winger with an impressive 20 Premier League goals last season has always wanted to go to Old Trafford, but has faced opposition from Brentford. It was about big money, where the “small” club intended to be left as the winner.
It’s quite a behind-the-scenes story the BBC, Daily Telegraph, Manchester Evening News and Daily Mirror bring. Their sources report United claim Brentford have tried to get Mbeumo to lower his wage demand, so that other clubs would have a better chance in a bidding round. Newcastle, Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal have all shown their interest in recent months.

The BBC claims that Brentford management told Mbeumo directly that he would have to lower his wage demand, if United did not agree to a contract worth £70+7 million. Then it was his reduced salary that would secure a pull pot for Brentford.
This week, the negotiations were resolved, and Mbeumo was able to tell United supporters what they have in store.
“As soon as I knew there was an opportunity to go to United, it was an opportunity I just had to take. United is my dream club. That was the shirt I wore when I was growing up,” Mbeumo told the club’s website
“My mentality is to always be better than I was yesterday. I know I have the will and personality to reach another level here, when I can learn from Rúben Amorim and play alongside world-class players,” says the new Man Utd player.

Then all you have to do is fasten your seatbelt. When Mbeumo picks up speed in front of the opponent’s goal, it hurts to stop the high-speed freight train of a player.
