It is tight through the eye of the needle for playing time at one of the world’s biggest clubs. That’s how it is, and that’s how it has to be at a club with constant title ambitions. For Sacha Boey, this means that after only 13 games in the first team, he has to call his agent.

The French full-back had made an appearance at Galatasaray from 2021, in the winter of 2024 Boey was on the radar of Bayern Munich, who ended up paying €30 million for his signature.

This was with Thomas Tuchel still on guard. Boey got his opportunity directly after the transfer, but was unfortunate in the second game, where he disappeared with a long-term injury for the rest of the season. Unfortunate timing, because four months later, Vincent Kompany was in the coaching chair at Bayern.

Boey still got the opportunity from the start in two of the first three Bundesliga games with Kompany, but again suffered an injury, this time in the meniscus. Then back in November, four Bundesliga games with a bit of mixed playing time, then an ankle injury a few days before Christmas.

The 24-year-old right-back has been given 461 minutes on the pitch by Kompany, according to German Sky Sports, the Bayern management has decided to open up for bids for the Frenchman this summer. It is doubtful that Bayern will get back their original investment in the player, the market value for the unfortunate player now stands at 18 million euros (transfermarkt).

The German media claims Bayern are open to “satisfactory bids”, and are apparently already ready to take a loss on the investment from 2024. Sorry, Boey.
