The Spanish manager with the French-sounding name Quique Setién is back in La Liga after taking an involuntary long holiday. – He was fired from Barcelona in the summer of 2020 and has since been without a club.
It is a long managerial career that is now being revived, the 64-year-old has done a lot of “strange” things, including national team manager for Equatorial Guinea for a few months back in 2006.

Quique Setien takes over Villarreal from Unai Emery.
On Monday night it became clear that Unai Emery is leaving Villarreal and taking over Aston Villa, who recently sacked Steven Gerrard.
Villarreal have done reasonably well this season, currently in seventh place in La Liga.
Villarreal were quick on the ball and probably already had a replacement ready to take over a few days ago. Former Barcelona manager Quique Setién was probably sitting at the end of the sofa waiting for someone to call. Unai Emery’s replacement has been given a contract that extends over this season and next.
Quique Setién has a solid coaching career where he enjoyed great success with Real Betis between 2017-2019 before taking over Barcelona in January 2020. However, the Spaniard had a short-lived spell with the Catalan giants, having to leave a few months later.

Most experts at the time agreed that Quique Setién is a solid and good leader, but also quite boring. Far from a sexy and inspiring leader that “Barcelona so desperately needs”.
