This week, there was finally something to cheer about for Tottenham supporters. A delicious and liberating 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League saw the confirmation on Thursday that a Brazilian super talent has chosen the London club.

English media have reported on the potential transfer earlier in the week, but on Thursday the confirmation came. The 19-year-old Souza leaves Brazilian Santos after 38 first-team appearances and moves to the Premier League. The left-back has 12 appearances for the Brazilian U17 national team, and is hailed as one of the truly great talents in the samba football nation. There is little doubt Thomas Frank sees the reinforcement as very important.

“I am very happy to be able to add Souza to the squad. He is a talented and promising young full-back, who thinks offensively and is technically very skilled. I look forward to working with him and helping to develop his potential, as we believe we have acquired one of the world’s greatest left-back talents. He is a player who can contribute already now, but also in the long term, says Frank to the club’s website.
