If you ask Liverpool fans, they are still furious that ten years ago they “lost” (for €63.7 million) right winger Raheem Sterling in a move to the blue part of Manchester.
Transfermarkt believes that Raheem Sterling is worth €10 million, down from €160 million at the top.
Raheem Sterling is said to be wanted by a former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

Sterling has been taking part in the pre-season at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground for the past two weeks as he works to get ready for the new season. However, after a disappointing loan spell at Arsenal in the 2024/25 season, there is no possibility of reintegration into Enzo Maresca’s squad.
The 30-year-old contributed with just four assists in 23 games in the Premier League and Champions League, most of which came from the bench.
Still, according to BBC Sport, the former England international has an admirer in someone who knows the Premier League well.
Ten Hag considers Sterling transfer
The report claims that Bayer Leverkusen – who recently hired Erik ten Hag as their new head coach – are considering a bid for Sterling.
Leverkusen are closely monitoring the situation of a player who is reportedly valued at around £20 million by Chelsea.
There has already been a major upheaval at the BayArena since Xabi Alonso left the club for Real Madrid, with Jeremie Frimpong, Jonathan Tah and Florian Wirtz all leaving the club.
Ten Hag has recently admitted that he is worried that several experienced or key players could disappear, although there have also been many new signings.
Sterling can value the opportunity to revive his career away from the Premier League spotlight, where he has spent his entire career so far.
Another club interested in Sterling?
According to sports commentator Ben Jacobs, Juventus are also interested in Sterling and could make a bid of their own.
But unlike Leverkusen, it is uncertain whether the Italian big clubs are willing to pay £20 million for an attacking player who has just passed 30.
Sterling still has two years left on his contract, which could give Chelsea room to consider a loan if they do not get the desired transfer fee.
Reducing salary expenses by allowing one of the highest-paid players to leave the club can be just as important as getting a transfer fee.
Now what?
Will it be Leverkusen, Juventus – or a completely third club? Sterling is facing an important career choice, while Chelsea want to get him off the payroll.
With Ten Hag’s confidence and the possibility of playing in the Bundesliga or Serie A, this could be a fresh start for the experienced winger.
