Rangers have reached an “agreement in principle” to sign Paris Saint-Germain youth player Oumar Camara.

The club’s summer planning recently suffered a setback when their first candidate for the still vacant manager, Davide Ancelotti, turned down the opportunity to take over Rangers from next season. Rangers have been without a permanent manager since Philippe Clement was sacked in February, and the 55-time Scottish champions will now have to consider other options such as Steven Gerrard, Russell Martin, Marco Rose and still Bodø/Glimt head coach Kjetil Knutsen even if there was no Europa League final.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the coaching role – where club legend Barry Ferguson has had to temporarily take over – Rangers are actively working on transfers.

After reaching a pre-agreement to sign Dundee star Lyall Cameron in February, Rangers have now secured a deal for their second summer reinforcement.

Rangers sign Paris Saint-Germain U19 captain

According to RMC journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Rangers have secured a “deal in principle” to sign PSG U19 captain Oumar Camara, who has recorded seven goals and four assists in the French U19 league this season.

The 18-year-old’s contract expires this summer, and according to Hawkins, he has accepted a move to Glasgow. Camara, who is a right winger by profession, will sign a “long-term” contract with the Rangers.

Hawkins adds that Rangers managed to present a more convincing offer to Camara than PSG, who had offered him a professional contract in an attempt to keep him.

PSG, in line with its new strategy of integrating French talents into the first team, is trying to keep its most promising academy players. But some, like Camara and teammate Axel Tape – who Leverkusen and Chelsea are interested in – feel that the chances of playing time are better elsewhere.
