Jamie Vardy was behind one of the biggest surprises in Premier League history. At the start of the 2015/16 season, no one predicted that Leicester would win the world’s toughest league. With Claudio Ranieri at the helm, Kasper Schmeichel on the line and Vardy hammering in 24 PL goals, the club went all the way. This month, the 38-year-old has played his last game for Leicester, but no retirement is expected.

English media have reported Premier League clubs have expressed their interest. Wolverhampton, with Jørgen Strand Larsen, have been in the picture, FA Cup champions Crystal Palace the same. Newly promoted Leeds are also linked with the striker with 143 Premier League goals.

Due to loyalty to Leicester, no one who can stop “his club” from returning to the Premier League is relevant for Jamie Vardy.

It’s about Spanish Valencia, who are said to have Vardy at the top of their wish list. Their coach, Carlos Corberan (former Huddersfield and West Bromwich coach), is said to be very interested in signing the 38-year-old, and he wants to convince the Englishman to try his hand at Spain before he ends his career.

Valencia are in 12th place before the last game, and are the club Cristiano Ronaldo is said to have shown interest in buying.

Jamie Vardy has been tipped to sign for a big club this summer after he leaves Leicester City after 13 legendary years. The 38-year-old has written himself into Leicester’s history with Premier League and FA Cup triumphs. He reinforced his status as a club legend when he scored his 200th goal for the club in the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town last weekend

“It’s been incredible, a real roller coaster,” Vardy said after the game. “But the good thing is that the highs have been far, far more than the lows. I thank everyone. I could never have dreamed that we would win the league, play in the Champions League – it all happened for a reason.”

Rangers as a possible destination?

Several clubs have been linked with Vardy, including two Premier League teams, but Rangers coaching legend Ally McCoist believes the experienced attacker could be a perfect signing for the Scottish giants.

“Something tells me that he already has something in place – either in the US or at another club,” McCoist said on talkSPORT. “We discussed this yesterday, me and my Rangers friends – I would take him in two minutes to Rangers, I really would.”

McCoist, who is a Rangers icon himself after many seasons at the club, is clearly a big fan of the former England international.

Rangers need experience

Rangers have not won the Scottish league since the 2020/21 season, while rivals Celtic have won four titles in a row. The club’s level has dropped in recent years, and signing Vardy could be a boost thanks to his experience and fighting spirit.

Currently, the Rangers have attacking players such as Oscar Cortés, Cyriel Dessers, Rabbi Matondo and Hamza Igamane – but Vardy would be a definite upgrade.

The club is currently without a permanent coach after Barry Ferguson, who took over on an interim basis from Philippe Clement, will not stay.
