Then Marcus Rashford is well underway at Barcelona. “The dream club”, when the mood at the original dream club, Manchester United, soured. The process has been a pain for United supporters to follow, Rashford, who has been the prototype of a Man Utd player who grows up at the club and develops into one of the really big stars on the ball island. And then force an exit. Now Rashford is telling his side of the story.

– People have been saying for several years that we have been in a transition phase, but to be in a transition phase you actually have to start it. It hasn’t started yet,” Rashford said in an interview on the podcast “The Rest is Football”.

“United have been reactive. When Liverpool went through this, they brought in Jürgen Klopp and stood by him. They didn’t win at the start. People only remember the last few years when he fought with City and won the biggest titles. To start a transfer, you have to make a plan and stick to that plan,” Rashford continues. 

– This is something people forget. We’ve been way below where you think United should be, but if you take a step back, which I’ve had the opportunity to do, especially in the last six months… What do you expect? This is where you have to be realistic about the situation you are in. We have had so many different coaches, ideas and strategies in the pursuit of winning, that you ended up with no man’s land, says Rashford harshly.
