Last week, the AC Milan delegation flew to Manchester to secure Rasmus Hojlund. Benjamin Sesko was well on his way to signing for United, an opportunity the Serie A club would not pass up. At the same time, there were strong signals from the Dane he intended to bend his neck and compete for playing time. This changed over the weekend.
According to English journalist Ben Jacobs, Hojlund has now received a clear message from the United management to leave the club if he is to have any hope of playing time in the coming season. This has made Højlund and his agent reluctantly accept, reports Jacob. On Saturday, the Dane got a taste of this with ninety minutes on the bench in the friendly against Fiorentina, while midfielder Mason Mount was pushed onto the pitch.

According to the Manchester Evening News, it was more of a rebellion. The local newspaper claims the 22-year-old feels forced to leave Man United.
This comes a few weeks after a lot of praise from Amorim in the first training matches, in addition to Højlund himself stating that he wanted to stay. Now a loan stay at AC Milan is probably awaited, but Højlund does not need to plan a return to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old was thrown off this “train” – at speed.
