According to Fichajes, Real Betis are keeping an eye on Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko, and they have “thrown themselves into the fight” for the Ukrainian player who has fallen out of favour.

2024/25 season was another “almost” season for Arsenal, who finished second in the Premier League for the third year in a row. The Gunners managed to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League, but it was still another season without a trophy for Arsenal, who last won a trophy in 2020.

Mikel Arteta, who is fully aware of this, has had a busy summer so far for Arsenal. Six new players have arrived at Emirates Stadium. Three of these, winger Noni Madueke, midfielder Christian Norgaard and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, come from the Premier League, while Arsenal have also signed Martin Zubimendi and Cristhian Mosquera from La Liga.

Arsenal’s biggest signing to date is undoubtedly Viktor Gyökeres, the striker who has become a sensation at Sporting Lisbon. As the Gunners prepare for what could be a crucial season for the team, they also need to be prepared for possible departures – and one player is now being linked with a transfer.

Betis show interest in Zinchenko
Oleksandr Zinchenko joined Arsenal from Manchester City in 2022 and became an important first-team player for the club, where he played extensively in his first two seasons.

But last season, Zinchenko had his playing time reduced, when the Ukrainian international was overtaken by both Riccardo Calafiori and young talent Myles Lewis-Skelly. In midfield, his opportunities for playing time were also limited due to players like Declan Rice and Martin Ødegaard.

A departure from Arsenal for Zinchenko this summer has long been considered likely, and according to Fichajes, Real Betis are the latest club to show interest. Betis, who were losing finalists in the Conference League last season, could offer Zinchenko playing time either as a left-back or midfielder, as the 28-year-old feels comfortable in both positions.

Zinchenko, who earns £200,000 a week, reportedly wants regular game time before next year’s World Cup – something he could struggle with if he stays in North London, given how many players are ahead of him in the hierarchy.
