In 2021, it was ready for the European Super League. The bosses at Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus were the driving force behind the establishment of a separate league with invited clubs across national borders. Like a closed Champions League, where invited clubs were left with the largest part of the income. Real Madrid and Barcelona refused to give up on the project, but five years later, the plan is finally being put in the dustbin.

In a press release from both Real Madrid and UEFA, they state that they have reached an agreement, which aims to ensure the future of European football. With Wednesday’s agreement, the project around the European Super League has definitely been put aside.
