Negotiations in full swing again
During Thursday, the Spanish newspaper Marca reports that Real Madrid and Benfica are now in the process of finalizing the final details of a transfer deal. According to Marca, Real Madrid have agreed to pay Carreras’ release clause, despite attempts to negotiate the price down. At the same time, Benfica have agreed to allow Carreras to leave in time for Real Madrid’s participation in the Club World Cup in the United States.

AS has previously claimed that Benfica are demanding €60 million for Carreras, where Manchester United have a continuation clause in the deal.
Carreras’ path to Benfica
Carreras joined Benfica from Manchester United during the winter of 2024, first on loan and then on a permanent basis six months later. He has made a total of 66 appearances for the Portuguese club.
