This player has been out of the picture with “the Whites” for years, and now they have finally secured his departure – but retain control over his future.

Reinier Jesús is now history for Real Madrid. The club has solved one of the most difficult operations of this transfer window by finalizing the young Brazilian’s transfer back to his home country, where he will play for Atlético Mineiro. A solution that ultimately satisfies all parties, even if it took time to put in place.

After several unimpressive loan spells, Reinier returned to Valdebebas this summer without a clear place in Xabi Alonso’s squad. His original wish was to remain associated with the club, but the lack of opportunities has made him accept a departure. Now the talented attacking midfielder will try to revive his career in Brazil’s top division.

The
deal between Real Madrid and Atlético Mineiro involves a one-year loan, with the special clause that the Brazilian club will take over the player’s salary of between 77,000 and 150,000 euros monthly. Although it is a loan, Reinier is now contractually released from Real Madrid – but with an important detail:

According to DefensaCentral, Real Madrid will secure 50% of any future transfer fees. This shows the club’s sporting management’s intelligent approach, which at least ensures the possibility of making money if the player regains the form that first made him attractive to Madrid.

One of the club’s biggest acquisition failures,
Reinier’s case, underscores how early talent doesn’t always translate into immediate success in Europe. After impressing for Flamengo and creating great expectations, his adaptation to European football has been troubled. Neither at Borussia Dortmund, Girona nor Frosinone did he manage to establish himself, leaving more questions than answers.

Although the departure was not easy – the player felt inadequately supported by the club – he has ultimately chosen to return to his roots. With a new chapter in Belo Horizonte, Reinier hopes to regain top form in the same league where he first broke through.

A closed chapter of opportunities
With this operation, Real Madrid closes a chapter that did not meet expectations, but does so at no extra cost and with the opportunity to recoup part of the investment. For Reinier, the challenge now remains to feel important again on the pitch.
