Real Madrid and agent Jorge Mendes are discussing Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lulin’s future.

In the midst of preparations for a major restructuring of the squad under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid have already started to take action – not only with new signings, but also in terms of possible departures. One of the most sensitive situations concerns Andriy Lunin. Despite his recent contract extension and public statements of loyalty to the club, the sporting management team has made a clear decision about his future.

According to ‘DefensaCentral’, Madrid management have started talks with Jorge Mendes, the Ukrainian goalkeeper’s agent, that they are willing to negotiate a transfer if they receive an offer between 25 and 30 million euros. This does not mean that they are desperate to sell Lunin, but shows their openness to a profitable deal if serious stakeholders register their interest.

Impossible to displace Courtois
The main reason for this attitude lies in the competition with Thibaut Courtois. Despite an impressive 2023/24 season in which Lunin played confidently and won three titles, his role is doomed to be secondary as long as the Belgian is available. Therefore, both the player and his representatives are considering the possibility of securing an undisputed first goalkeeper spot at another club.

The Premier League, where several clubs have already shown interest, appears to be the most likely target. His qualities and young age make him an attractive investment object. Real Madrid’s management has made it clear that if a satisfactory offer comes, the doors at the Santiago Bernabéu will be open for a transfer.
