The Croatian player has limited time left at the Santiago Bernabéu, and the club needs a new midfielder.
Real Madrid have set their sights on a new midfield leader: Alexis Mac Allister. The White management is preparing an offer of around €90 million to convince Liverpool and secure the Argentine player, who has been internally identified as the ideal candidate to carry on Luka Modric’s legacy.
The weakening this season for Real Madrid can not only be attributed to Carlo Ancelotti’s problems with balancing the squad after the arrival of French superstar Kylian Mbappe, but also the fact that Toni Kroos entered the retirement ranks last summer. And now that Luka Modric at the age of 39 is spending some of his enormous fortune on buying into Swansea and does not have long left at the Santiago Bernabeu, a replacement is needed. It is crucial to bring in a player with a mix of technical quality, experience and immediate ability to adapt to top-level play.

Still looking towards Liverpool!
It is nothing new that Real Madrid are looking at Liverpool nor at Alexis Mac Allister that Carlo Ancelotti wanted to work last year when Toni Kroos left to maintain balance and creativity in midfield. He also wanted Mac Allister the year before, but this interest did not result in a concrete negotiation then. Liverpool drew the longest straw and brought him to Anfield in the summer of 2023, where he has distinguished himself as one of the English team’s most reliable players.

With Xabi Alonso likely to coach from next season, the sporting management has resumed this approach with greater conviction. The Basque coach sees the world champion as a piece that would be a perfect fit for the young midfield core consisting of Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde and Tchouaméni. The purpose is clear: to form a dominant midfield by balancing physical strength, tactical vision and goal-scoring ability.
Although Liverpool are not keen on letting go of the former Brighton player, the people of Chamartín trust that the club’s financial strength, along with the attractive sporting project, can influence the decision. Mac Allister, due to his profile and timing, seems like the one destined to usher in a new era at the heart of Madrid’s midfield.
