Ibrahima Konaté has been linked with a move away from Anfield after it became clear he did not want to negotiate an extension to his deal that expires next summer.

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a swap deal to persuade Liverpool to sell Ibrahima Konaté this summer.

Konaté (26) has played a key role for Liverpool since joining from RB Leipzig in 2021. So far, the Frenchman has made 132 appearances for the club and formed a strong partnership with captain Virgil van Dijk.

But in recent weeks, Konaté’s future has been a much-discussed topic ahead of the 2025/26 season.

As of now, his contract expires after the upcoming season, and negotiations for a new deal have reportedly stalled.

La Liga giants Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Konaté on a free transfer – something they did with Trent Alexander-Arnold this summer.

However, Liverpool do not want to lose Konaté for free, having learned from the Alexander-Arnold saga.

In order to secure Konaté as early as this summer, Madrid are reportedly willing to include a player in a transfer deal.

According to Spanish Fichajes, Madrid are exploring ways to tempt Liverpool to let Konaté leave.

It is claimed that the centre-back’s physical strength, defensive understanding and experience in big games have put him on Madrid’s wish list.

The report mentions that Madrid are willing to offer €10 million plus Brahim Díaz to test Liverpool’s willingness to sell.

In this transfer window, Liverpool have been linked with Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, who could be a perfect replacement for Konaté.

In addition to Guehi, players such as Jorrel Hato and Levi Colwill have also been mentioned as potential targets.

At the same time, the Reds are said to be close to an expensive transfer for striker Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt, in a deal that could reach up to €95 million.
