When Real Madrid finally managed to manoeuvre their way to signing Mbappé last season, it was an expensive affair, but Real Madrid came to the negotiating table as the world’s best club. Now they were going to be unbeatable with the goal machine in the squad. 150 million euros were transferred to the French national team captain upon signing, around 15 million euros in annual salary ticking into the same account.

Then the season started. The goals didn’t come, the Frenchman got into it, but seen from the outside, it seemed like Ancelotti’s title machine of a squad wasn’t working as well. Out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals, losing in the Copa del Rey final, probably second place in La Liga.

Now Real Madrid are marking who is the most important player in the squad.

Vinicius Jr. has been rumoured to be heading to the Saudi Arabian league to replenish his €1 billion coffers in five years, but now Real Madrid have given the 24-year-old the status he deserves in the Real squad.

According to Spanish AS, the La Liga giant and the Brazilian have chosen to close the door to the “Ronaldo League”. With Xabi Alonso on his way in as the new Real Madrid coach, the Spaniard has clearly pointed out that Vinicius Jr. is a player he needs to keep with him.

The Spanish media claim Real and Vinicius have agreed on a new deal that runs until 2030, with the 24-year-old pulling in €20 million in annual wages to continue playing for the biggest trophies.

That is, 50 million euros more than Mbappé.
