There will be big meadows at the Santigo Bernabeu after Real Madrid failed to win a trophy for the first time since the 2020/21 season

Just days after the end of the La Liga season, Real confirmed that former club legend Alonso would take over the manager’s job after leaving Bayer Leverkusen.

But it seems that there is another legend at the club who may not be happy with the change, as he confirmed that he is leaving the club just two days after Alonso’s arrival.

In a shocking statement, Raúl González confirmed his resignation as manager of Real Madrid’s B team, ending the legends’ seven-year journey in the club’s youth department.

As a player, Raúl represented Real Madrid between 1994 and 2010, making 741 appearances and scoring 323 goals.

He later returned as a youth coach in 2018, but his official statement on Instagram confirms that his time at the Spanish giants is now over.

The 47-year-old wrote:

**”As of today, I have informed Real Madrid of my decision to end my time at the club.

There have been seven seasons where I have been able to live out the great passion I have had for football since I was a child. I am sure that these years have helped me grow both as a professional and as a person.

I thank the club of life for the opportunity they have given me through these years.

And I want to express my gratitude to all the staff of this institution and to everyone who is part of Real Madrid, because they have all shown me support and love, and have helped me to perform one of the most beautiful roles in this sport: to share my experience and knowledge with the younger players, and watch them grow as people and athletes.

I will proudly enjoy the successes achieved by each of the boys I have coached, and all of them bring with them my love and gratitude for everything I have experienced.

A new chapter in my life begins now, away from this club, but with the knowledge that one day I will return to what has always been my home.

Thanks to all. Hala Madrid!” **

The reason for the departure

It is not known exactly what led to Raúl’s departure, but Spanish newspaper AS reports that he had been frustrated to be overlooked for a more senior role at the club, both when Zinedine Zidane left in 2021 and now again with Ancelotti’s departure.
