Speaking about his departure in May, Modrić said:
“I arrived in 2012 with the hope of wearing the shirt of the world’s best team and the ambition to achieve great things, but I couldn’t imagine what would come next. Playing for Real Madrid changed my life both as a footballer and as a person. I am proud to have been part of one of the most successful periods of the greatest club in history.”

Now he will take the step to Serie A and join the Italian big club AC Milan.

New manager Massimiliano Allegri, who has returned to the San Siro team for his second spell in charge. He has already confirmed that Modrić will join the club next month.

He said: “Modrić will arrive in August. He’s an outstanding player.”
