Fabrizio Romano has announced Real Madrid’s next signing, while Xabi Alonso’s side continue to make rapid progress in the transfer market.

Los Blancos will participate in the Club World Cup later this month, and after already confirming transfers for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen, they will participate with a team in a new shirt.

While the Spanish club are also working to sign Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, Romano has confirmed that a deal for River Plate talent Franco Mastantuono is imminent.

“The game is over – Real Madrid have full agreement on personal terms with Mastantuono.”

“Final negotiations with River Plate on a structure other than the €40 million release clause… After that, everything is ready.”

Franco Mastantuono: Real Madrid still have work to do

Reports on Thursday indicated that Real Madrid had reached an agreement with the 17-year-old Argentine, where Xabi Alonso’s role in the deal should not be underestimated. The Spanish club won the battle for the striker ahead of Paris Saint-Germain.

There is still some uncertainty about when Mastantuono will sign for the Spanish club. Previous indications were that he wanted to stay with River Plate to participate in the Club World Championships.

In fact, River Plate hoped to keep their star player for the rest of the year to participate in the Copa Libertadores. Real Madrid also had no plans to sign Mastantuono until January, but they were forced to act after PSG stepped up their pursuit of the player.

The negotiations on the structure of the transfer fee to free him from River Plate will therefore not be easy for Real Madrid.

Mastantuono’s release clause, which is reported to be at €45 million, is significantly higher than his estimated market value of €20 million. Nevertheless, it seems that Real Madrid believe it is a price worth paying to secure the young talent.
